History

The wonderful story of a small business that became a world leader

The adventure began in the early 20th century thanks to the intuition of Henry Bergerat and his cousin, Francis Monnoyeur. The two men set up a small business importing and distributing construction equipment. The business prospered and expanded.

Over the decades, Monnoyeur closely followed the greatest events of the 20th century. Independent, unique and agile, Monnoyeur today is building on its family heritage to further accelerate its international expansion and become a group providing B2B services to construction, industry and agriculture.

1906

Creation of the Hy. Bergerat & Cie company, an industrial equipment distribution company.

1929

On 6 December, the Hy. Bergerat & Cie company signs with the United States an exclusive contract for the import and distribution of Caterpillar Tractor Company machines in France.

1941

Creation of the first subsidiary in Toulouse, in the free zone, to continue to serve its customers despite the outbreak of the world war.

1964

The "Moteurs" subsidiary of Hy. Bergerat Monnoyeur & Cie supplies Caterpillar marine engines and generator.

1971

Creation of the Energie Autonome company, the forerunner of Eneria, specialising in the assembly of industrial and marine engines.

1972

Caterpillar enters the handling sector and proposes a range of forklifts, represented by Hy. Bergerat, Monnoyeur &Cie.

1981

Bergerat Monnoyeur becomes the main agent of Caterpillar in Algeria.

1989

The Monnoyeur Group acquires Impex, the first distributor of car accessories to the mass market and Feu Vert, the first franchised car center in France.

1990

Creation of Bergerat Monnoyeur Manutention, a specific and independent company.

1991

Bergerat Monnoyeur becomes the exclusive dealer for Romania and Moldavia.

1992

The Hy. Bergerat & Cie company becomes the Monnoyeur Group with a reorganisation of the various activities into independent companies.

1996

Creation of IPSO Agricultura in Romania, a subsidiary dedicated to the distribution of agricultural equipment and tools, which will become the exclusive dealer for the John Deere brand.

1997

Bergerat Monnoyeur becomes the exclusive Caterpillar dealer for Poland.

2002

Monnoyeur consolidates the differentiation of its subsidiaries under the following names: Bergerat Monnoyeur (Public Works), Bergerat Monnoyeur Location, Eneria (Energy), Aprolis (Handling) and Magellan (International).

2002

Bergerat Monnoyeur innovated by being the first equipment distributor in France to use the call center technology to manage the technical competences and make them available to its customers and employees and to establish pre-diagnosis.

2004

Implementation in Belgium and Luxembourg.

2006

The Group has a network of 637 offices and workshops in 9 countries: 527 in France, 10 in Belgium and Luxembourg, 70 in Spain, 1 in Portugal, 16 in Poland, 7 in Romania, 4 in Algeria and 1 in Hong Kong.

2018

The group affirms its commitment to new technologies applied to the world of construction by creating the Arkance brand.

2022

Groupe Monnoyeur becomes Monnoyeur: Change in the group's identity to better reflect its positioning and ambitions.

2024

The group is present in 23 countries and 5 continents through 6 subsidiaries: Bergerat Monnoyeur, Eneria, Aprolis, IPSO, ARKANCE and CHRONO Flex.
